Thomas Jefferson was the third President of the United States (1801–1809)

Name : Thomas Jefferson
Date of Birth : 13 April 1743
Date of death : 4 July 1826

Thomas Jefferson was the third President of the United States (1801–1809), the principal author of the Declaration of Independence 1776 and one of the most influential Founding Fathers for his promotion of the ideals of republicanism in the United States. Major events during his presidency include the Louisiana Purchase (1803) and the Lewis and Clark Expedition (1804–1806).

Thomas Jefferson was a brilliant individual – perhaps the single most brilliant mind in the history of the United States. He entered college at the age of 16, only to graduate just two years later with high honors. He was a noted architect and philosopher, proficient in both French and Greek, and is regularly heralded by scholars as one of our greatest presidents. We are indeed fortunate, then, that he was the primary author of the Declaration of Independence, the very document we celebrate on this day. This also happens to be the day Jefferson died, in the year 1826.
