Steve McNair was an American football quarterback, best known for his years with the Tennessee Titans.he attended Mount Olive High School in Mississippi as a freshman in the fall of 1987, where he played football, baseball, and basketball in addition to running track. As a junior, McNair led Mount Olive to the state championship.
In his senior season, McNair gained nearly 6,000 yards rushing and passing, along with 53 touchdowns. In the process, he surpassed more than a dozen records and was named an All-American.McNair set career records for the Football Championship Series with 14,496 passing yards, as well as the division record for total offensive yards with 16,283 career yards. The records still stand.
McNair married Mechelle on June 21, 1997. He had two sons with his wife, and he split his time between a farm in Mississippi and Nashville.McNair has four sons total: Steve Junior, Steven, Tyler and Trenton.
On July 4, 2009, McNair was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds, including two to the head,along with a female victim, 20-year-old Iranian American Sahel Kazemi, who was found dead of a single gunshot wound to the head, in a condominium in downtown Nashville, Tennessee.The Nashville police declared McNair's death a homicide on July 5, but did not reach a conclusion about the death of Kazemi. According to the police, the married McNair was dating Kazemi.
Police have not yet made a statement as to who is suspected of the killings. Initial media reports indicated McNair and Kazemi's deaths were the result of a murder-suicide.Police were not seeking any suspects in either death. Police did confirm that the gun found at the scene of the crime under Kazemi's body, was purchased by Kazemi.
The investigation is currently ongoing, although McNair's death has been ruled a murder
Two days before their deaths, Kazemi was pulled over in a black 2007 Cadillac Escalade in Nashville with McNair in the passenger seat. The vehicle was registered to both McNair and Kazemi. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.McNair was not arrested and instead allowed to leave in a taxi.
